Tongan Language Week

This week Glen Taylor School has been learning about Tongan language. The day before Yesterday we learnt with Miss V/Tongan funny teacher taught us how to start a conversation with Tongan, Tongan alphabet and Tongan songs. Yesterday saw felt and Tongan treasures Miss V called some people up to hold the items and wear I was one of the people who wore/ held the items. Miss V called me up and put the Kahoa heilala on my neck. The Kahoa heilala had a nice smell and looked cool with females/ males wearing it. I was wearing the Kahoa Heilala and holding a beautiful kafa pulu Miss V told the class about the treasures my class mate and me were holding. We all had a turn of holding the treasures and watched a short film about Kava. The film was sad and interesting as my class watched through it. We then practiced the Tongan alphabet once again and the bell rang and there it was ordinary day. Today it was a couple people in class in the morning because some was in kapa haka and some at fun run. As Miss V walked in with her beautiful dress and her Kie Kie (like this week) she then told us to sit down and watch a video about Otai (in the middle we had to sing the Tongan alphabet for Ms Wrack and her Friend). Otai is a refreshing Tongan juice that is basically with water melon, pineapple and more delicious things after we watched another video about how to make Faikakai Topai. Topai is a dough boiled in water than added to a plate with sweet coconut sauce. On Monday room 9 will be making Otai and Topai sheesh can't wait. Hope you enjoyed my Writing.
